Moldmaking & Casting with Resin

Gooma flied to misterious island.

So on Tuesday night I ordered some moldmaking rubber and some opaque resin, to experiment with casting my monster-y dudes. It shipped yesterday, and should arrive next Wednesday!

I've seen SO many cool things done with resin, sometimes they look just like vinyl toys to me!

Flickr is an excellent resource for finding new artists and art types, so I figured I'd give it a go in terms of looking for resin toy makers--lo and behold, I found the group RESIN IS THE NEW VINYL. Such neat stuff to see--from protypes, to plain casts, to finished, painted models! I love it. :)

Thanks for the shout out Shelly! Nice to be included with the likes of the talented Iron Lung and Lunartic. I'm looking forward to watching your progress throughout!

Oh, exciting! Our sculptor used to make a lot of resin duplicates to do color tests on. It was a lot of fun.

Steve: No prob! Your stuff is great. :) Thank you!

Emma: Neato! I didn't realize that you had a sculptor on staff at your job. Must've been cool to see a bunch of different iterations of the same thing. :) I'll probably do the same until I settle on a few designs I really like... but in a photoshop drawing vs. a real cast. I'm scared of messing one up! ^_^;
