IKEA!

Ah, the land of cheap, yet stylish goods... we're going to be decorating a bit this weekend!

People with license plates from Nevada and other surrounding states are usually in the parking lot. Its so crazy how people make a pilgrimage to this store, but at the same time I can understand it. ;)

I'll finally be buying some better lighting for my art area, and some wall organizing stuff, as well. Its intended for kitchens, but I can easily see bottles of paint, scissors, sculpting tools and other things hanging within easy reach of my desk. :)

I think these will work perfectly--right now all my acrylic craft paints are in a sad little shoebox, and I usually keep my brushes in a plastic party cup. It works 'ok', but it takes up a lot of space on my small art desk! Thankfully the things I'll be discarding in the organization bonanza can be reused/recycled. :)

I'll take photos once everything is up~! :) I should have some art to post this weekend as well, been working on new stuff for my etsy store!

Your Halloween Soundtrack?

So, we're having a Halloween party on Friday, and everything is falling into place--bought the main ingredients yesterday for dinner, going to buy some candy and ingredients for baked yummies tonight, going to buy the last few (extremely perishable!) ingredients on Friday, for drinks and garnishes. I foresee lots of cooking on Thursday night--and I'm looking forward to it! I love putting parties and get-togethers, well, together. ;)

But... we don't have any music! This album on amazon.com is a good start (I'll download the tracks off of iTunes instead of buying it), but I need more!

Suggestions, anyone?

New Mailing List! Have a Happy Friday!

I started a mailing list last night--mailing list members will get a 'sneak peek' at new merchandise before the rest of the internet, word of upcoming sales, special list-only promotions, and news of events/shows I'll be attending.

You can sign up here on my blog, or on my website!

Ahhh, its been a very busy work week! Lots of art being made at work, which is great fun (I love being busy)--but at the same time I feel pretty lazy by the time I get home. I've been working on 'after work'/personal art a lot less this past week and a half--though being ill may have had something to do with that as well.

I have art to make tonight (I'm lookin' at you, London Flat Couture!), sculpts to finish up, and photos to post. I had wanted to share photos NOW, but unfortunately, my camera's battery needs a recharge... so hopefully that will be ready by the time I get home tonight. :)

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Tagged!

Seven facts...

1) I went to middle school in Germany, and High School in England because my father was in the Army.

2) I made a willful decision not to learn Spanish in High School because I thought I'd never need it...

3) ...I then fell in love with (and married) a man from Spain. Oops!

4) I like to give things silly names... our cat's REAL name is Captain, but I sometimes call him McSlinkersons, Sugarbottoms or Cheekins. Don't ask, its just something weird I do. :)

5) When I was growing up, I wanted to be a paleontologist.

6) I detested baby dolls as a kid--barbies were ok, but I loved playing with stuffed animals and plastic toy dinosaurs.

7) I would rather adopt a child than have one of my own.

I tag... whoever wants to do this! Sorry, I'm cheap. ;)

Sick!

I feel totally gross right now! :( Been working on and off on sculpture stuff all weekend, but because I was only working 'on and off', I have nothing to show you yet. Then I started getting aches and a sore throat! Ahhhhh!

I'm going to rest, enjoy my cinnamon-spiked hot chocolate (from scratch!), and hopefully I'll be ready to post new art sometime mid-week!

Time to crawl back to the couch...

Back from Vegas!

We got home last night, but I didn't feel like updating. So there! Instead of art, have a photo! I don't know exactly why this was taken (nothing too exciting that I can see going on in the background), but eh! Photo evidence we were there. ;) I do have some art to post later, never fear. :)

Ah yes--Koi was very good, but nothing special. The prices for sushi were average, but their special items (special rolls and dishes) were very high. Craftsteak, however, was absolutely divine. I don't eat steak/beef very often, but this is the best I've ever had, hands down. It melted in my mouth, it was so tender!

It was of course expensive, but that's ok! How often does one go to Las Vegas, after all? ;)

Going to Las Vegas!

We're headed to Las Vegas for the next few days! I've never been to Las Vegas before, and neither has Xavi. I'm really excited about seeing all the lights, drinking, people watching, shopping... everything just sounds awesome.

I'm getting more and more excited to try my hand at gambling, but I am 100% excited about eating there! We've already made a reservation for Craftsteak, owned by Tom Colicchio, the head judge on Top Chef.

Currently I have my eye on KOI for another reservation--visit the website, I implore you! The restaurant looks AMAZING. The food sounds yummy, too. ;)

I have the feeling that we'll be spending a loooot of money on food and drinks, but whatever! VEGAS!

Anyone out there have any tips or favorite places to see/eat on the strip? I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Its hurricane season!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, the video game Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for the PSP has sucked my life away (and that of my friends!). Oops!

Anyhow, just a little note that I'll be silent for a while longer--I'm headed off to Florida to visit my best friends! And unfortunately, this guy looks like he'll be hanging around, too. ->

And another storm looks like its brewing... ahh! Fortunately it doesn't look like it'll touch Florida at all, at least not while I'm in town.

Stupid weather! :P

I'll return on Sept. 1st, I have been working on sculptures, just haven't finished anything. ;) Look for more updates then!

Thoughts of Summer

thoughts of summer, originally uploaded by shellyrodriguezart.

Just an inspiration board. This is what I feel that summer 'is' in my mind right now.

Its fun to 'create' things without actually drawing or painting, its creative but in a totally different way. Exercise those brain muscles!
